1967 Studio Cast

This 1967 studio cast recording from Saga Records was inspired by a West End revival of The Desert Song, which had opened at the Palace Theatre earlier that year. The cast was assembled from various U.K. touring productions of the show. Mary Millar and Robert Colman played the leading lovers, with Paul Bretton, Ivor Danvers, Janet Gale, Ted Gilbert, Gordon Trayner and Betty Winsett singing the supporting roles. Ray Cook conducted the Westminster Sinfonia.

In 2021, Stage Door Records digitally remastered the 1967 recordings and released them on CD, combined with tracks from the original 1927 London recording sessions, featuring Harry Welchman and Edith Day. This reissue is not currently available for digital streaming, but the CD can be purchased directly from Stage Door Records.
