Bambi Linn is 100!

On Sunday, April 26, Linn celebrated her 100th birthday. The dancer made her Broadway debut in the 1943 musical Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! when she was 16 years old. She is the last surviving cast member from the original opening night cast. She also starred in the 1955 film version of the story, appearing as Dream Laurey during the dream ballet that ends the first act of the musical.

Oklahoma! was the first musical written by the duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Linn, who was born Bambina Aennchen Linnemeier, opened up about her career in an interview for the Rodgers & Hammerstein website in 2023. She began dance classes at age 6 and trained extensively with legendary choreographer Agnes de Mille, whose idea it was for her to appear in Oklahoma!
