2018 Broadway Revival
2018 Broadway Revival
In a stunning return to Broadway, this monumental revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, directed by Jack O’Brien, opened on April 12, 2018. O’Brien’s gorgeous production boasted the best performing talent in New York– and not just from Broadway! Choreographer Justin Peck, a rising star of the ballet world, assembled dancers from the New York City Ballet, and straight from the Metropolitan Opera came American opera star Renée Fleming as Nettie Fowler, singing the unforgettable anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Leading the show in an extraordinary turn as carousel barker Billy Bigelow was Joshua Henry, opposite Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller. Alongside them were Lindsay Mendez, who won a Tony Award for her portrayal of Carrie Pipperidge, and Alexander Gemignani as the earnest Enoch Snow. This acclaimed production, featuring musical directioning by Andy Einhorn and new orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, ran at the Imperial Theatre for 181 performances.
