2015 Broadway Revival
2015 Broadway Revival
On April 16, 2015, The King and I made a triumphant return to Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater’s Vivian Beaumont Theatre in a Bartlett Sher production hailed as “resplendent” by The New York Times. Starring Kelli O’Hara, who won a Tony for her portrayal of Anna Leonowens, and Ken Watanabe in his American stage debut as the King, this Award-winning revival also featured Ashley Park as Tuptim and Ruthie Ann Miles in a Tony Award-winning turn as Lady Thiang. After winning five out of nine Tony Award nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical, along with countless other accolades, The King and I played 499 performances, closing on June 26, 2016 with a North American tour already in place. During the show’s run, Marin Mazzie and Daniel Dae Kim, among others, stepped into the leading roles.
