April 7, 1949 was surely “Some Enchanted Evening.” It’s when Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific first debuted on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre!

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s fourth collaboration was a groundbreaking stage production that redefined and revolutionized the American theatre – winning ten Tony Awards as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1950. It was a hit and ran for 1,925 performances.
