1998 West End Revival
On July 15, 1998, the Royal National Theatre premiered its landmark, Olivier Award-winning production of Oklahoma!, starring newcomer Hugh Jackman as Curly, Josefina Gabrielle as Laurie, and Shuler Hensley, whose performance as Jud Fry garnered him an Olivier Award. Directed by Trevor Nunn with new choreography by Susan Stroman, this production ran at the Olivier Theatre at the National from July 15 through October 3, and then transferred to the Lyceum Theatre from January 20 through June 26, 1999. This monumental production was recorded for preservation, distributed on SKY-TV and DVD, and broadcast on PBS as a part of their Great Performances series.

The recording of the Royal National Theatre’s 1998 landmark production included more of the score, including the new dance arrangements created for the Susan Stroman dances. It was recorded at Whitfield Street Studios with the London cast, featuring Hugh Jackman and Shuler Hensley, and released on CD under the label First Night.
